Fire Protection

Water tanks for fire fighting and sprinkler systems

To protect lives, property and the environment, fire fighting and sprinkler system tanks need to be correctly installed and capable of withstanding extremely high temperatures.

Our fire protection tanks are robustly built and fully compliant with Australian Standards AS 2419 and AS2304-2011, and the National Code of Practice for the Construction Industry. Tested by the CSIRO, our tanks have been shown to maintain structural and storage integrity in the most extreme bushfire conditions. You can learn more about our dedicated fire protection water tanks for commercial and rural applications.

A reliable fire water system will help to securely protect property and contents against the risk of fire. We can design a fire water storage system that meets your technical specifications or insurance requirements. We also supply a wide range of fittings and tank accessories for domestic and commercial installations, from the CFS 65mm STORZ fitting to large suction assemblies with various 100mm and 125mm fittings.

In 2006, we put our tank to the test with a flame immersion test for 30 minutes in conjunction with the Australian Bushfire CRC and CSIRO. Please see the video below to see our tank in action.

The Result

“Steel construction liner tanks maintained structural integrity during all tests. The liner construction proved able to retain water during and after the fire-front, which is critical for the protection of property and assets in the event of a bushfire.”

-Bushfire CRC, 2006

CFS Fire Reserve for household tanks

Sometimes the council will require to leave a ‘fire reserve’ in a tank for the purposes of having water available on properties for the CFS to use in the unfortunate event of a bushfire.

This is a brass outlet placed at the bottom of the tank with your domestic outlet placed higher on the tank wall so there is always water there for access by the CFS.

If council requires a reserve, it will typically be around the 10,000 or 22,500 litre level, please find out from your local council if they will require a reserve amount and how much they require as this will help us during the quoting and installation stages. As an example below is our GT50 water tank, with 10,000 reserved for CFS fighting use.
